Professor Joyce O’Connor moderated the IIEA Webinar Addressing the Mental Health Implications of Digital Life with Dr Ravi Iyer.
Dr Ravi Iyer discussed the significant implications for mental health of online life and how many users encounter unwanted or disturbing content and experiences and excessively use digital platforms with negative results for their well-being. Dr Iyer examined how the design choices of online platforms contribute to these trends and assessed the role of companies, governments, and civil society stakeholders in mitigating the negative consequences that can arise from this.
