On the 11th December 2025 Professor Joyce O’Connor presented the BlockW Award for Excellence and Innovation to Woodbrook College at the Cyberwise Adventures in Cyberland Awards 2025.
BlockW was delighted to present the BlockW Award for Excellence and Innovation to Woodbrook College. Congratulations to Destiny, Trudy, Siofra and Sophie, and to their teacher Lee O’Donnell. This project delivers a powerful and relatable message about cybersecurity using a format that resonates strongly with its target audience. The drama-style short film clearly demonstrates real-world online risks faced by teenagers such as oversharing, weak passwords, and inadequate account protection through an accessible and engaging storyline. The film translates complex cybersecurity concepts into everyday scenarios that young people can recognise and learn from. The narrative shows, in a compelling and age-appropriate way, how small online actions can lead to significant consequences like hacking, impersonation, and privacy breaches.”
This is the fourth year of the national awards programme inviting primary and post-primary students to explore “Global Opportunities and Challenges in Cybersecurity” and build cybersecurity literacy and awareness.
